Thank you for your comments this week! I always enjoy them and learn from you, too.
The winner of the conference call is Kelly, posted Tuesday at 1:53 pm. Email at chitwoodmelanie@yahoo.com and I'll give you details about signing up for the conference call.
You can continue to signup for the two-part marriage conference call that I'll be doing 3/18 and 3/25 - see my sidebar for all the details.
Two questions about the call: Is it appropriate for husbands? Yes!!! I think listening together will provide great conversations and new practices for your marriage.
What if you can't listen at the time: It's recorded and you'll have a time period where you can listen to the recording at your leisure.

"Building a Marriage that Will Last a Lifetime"
We all hope our marriage will last forever, but what are we doing today to ensure that happens? A marriage that will stand strong in good times and stressful times requires a choice each day to invest our best in our marriage. This two-part conference call will provide practical tools and will renew your desire to build a better marriage.
Taking lessons from her own marriage and God's Word, some of the practical tools Melanie will focus on include how to:
• build closeness as you identify and respond to your husband's top needs
• decrease conflict as you learn to embrace one another's differences
• increase effective communication by understanding the way your husband thinks
• strengthen your marriage through divorce-proofing strategies

I Want to Leave a Legacy
Thanks for stopping by! Today I have a devotion running with Proverbs 31 Ministries' Encouragement for Today, "I Want to Leave a Legacy."
I've had a couple of conversations recently causing me to think about the legacy I'm leaving my kids. I want my kids to learn many things from me and Scott. I want them to be responsible and diligent workers at whatever they do. I want them to know that love and laugher are really important. I want them to know that relationships matter most. That grace and love are two ingredients to mix into the lives of others and in their own lives. I want them to know that God created them uniquely, that life is a journey of discovering who God created them to be and then using all they are to serve God.
That's a lot of wants. Mostly, though, I just want them to know that Jesus loves them immensely. When they know that, they'll know what's most important of all. Being rooted in God's love will affect every aspect of their lives - their view of God, their view of themselves, and their view of others. I go to an incredible church, Transformation, with pastor Derwin Gray where we end every service with the words, "Upward, Inward, Outward" to remind us how God's love transforms from the inside out.
How will they know and truly believe God loves them? One of the key determing factors in my sons' lives is the way they see Scott and me live our lives. I believe our words to them are important, but I believe our actions shout volumes.
So what do my actions say? When they see me with my Bible every morning, they see that God's Word matters and gives us direction. When they see me stop what I'm doing to hang out, chat, or watch them play piano or shoot hoops, they see in their mom a heavenly Father who says, you matter most, sweet sons. I get to be the hands and heart of Jesus every day in the way I love them.
When they hear Scott tuck them into bed with laughter and prayers, they see a father modeling God's love, a love which says you are the priorities in my life. When they see Scott leaving work to go to a Bobcats game with Zach, or creating a Tyler's fun night, they see in their eartly father the love of their heavenly Father. And when they see their father working hard at his new business, they see a father who wants to provide for his family.
Because I have a teenager and because I have a fifth grader who sometimes thinks he's a teenager, I've also been thinking about how time flies. I'm doing things like digging up old photos and getting teary eyed and slipping in life lessons as often as I can.
I'd love to hear from you today about the legacy you're leaving your kids. Or grandkids, nephews, nieces, Sunday school class, or kids in your life.
